Google has made a lot of changes in the past few months with how they rank a site. It is becoming more and more important how a site template is laid out when it comes to SEO. In my opinion, most vldP templates are poorly designed for SEO.
 
In most cases, the higher your body content (h1 tags, keywords, etc) is on the page, the better you will rank. If you compare a wordpress SEO template to a vldP template, the vldP sidebar content is higher up than the main content. While in wordpress SEO templates, it is the opposite. The main content is displayed higher up than the side bar content.
 
When you look at a vldP site for SEO, you can't look at what is being displayed to the naked eye. That is not how google spider see's the content. Instead, you need to look at the source code or look at the site with google's cache using the text only feature. Let me give you example. Here is what a 2.7 template looks like in google cache with text only:

As you can see when you look at the above vldP template displayed as text only source code, the side bar content, country content, menu content, etc, is displayed higher than body content. Very poor layout for SEO.
 
With today's CSS and positioning, I don't know why someone doesn't produce a truly effective SEO template for vldP. Wordpress does it, Joomla does it, so why can't vldP do it.
 
If you are fighting your competition for ranking on certain keywords and your competition is ranked higher than you for that keyword, it could be because your competition's template displays their body content and keywords in a better position for keyword prominence. vldP templates need to do a better job in how they layout the site content for SEO purposes.
