I had the opportunity to review Fatlizard’s Article Modification for vldPersonals 2.5.5. Fatlizard’s coding falls in line of excellence with other well known vldPersonals coders like Radioact and Vlad. There is even a thorough PDF file that provides you step by step installation of the mod. Very impressive.
 
If you are familiar with vldPersoanls News feature, the Article mod will have a familiar look and feel. Fatlizard went out of his way to ensure that the Article mod is easy to use by emulating the News feature, however, the coding is quite extensive and does everything required to give your vldPersonal site a separate Article section for your site. Bottom line, the Article Mod is intuitive and easy to use.
 
Here are some of its features:
 
1. You can add your own meta description and keywords for SEO.
 
2. You can add an image to your Articles
 
3. You can enable or disable comments
 
4. You have a WYSWYG editor
 
5. Easy to use
 
In my test, I had no problems using the Article mod. The WYSWYG editor allows the admin to use html if you desire to embed a youtube video or other html code. I could easily administer and mange my Articles from the CP.
 
If you want to mix Articles with your other content on your site, this mod is for you. If you are going to use vldPersonals as an Article site, this mod is a must. Check out the demo at:

Ramil does it again. He added a little mod that helps with my site bounce rate. Let me explain.
 
There are probably three broad goals that each site try to achieve:
 
1. Get new members - a lot of SEO and marketing work is done to accomplish this.
 
2. Keep visitors on the site as long as possible - how quickly a member leaves your site is known as your bounce rate. If they visit your site and leave in 5 seconds, that's not good. The longer a visitor sticks around your site, the more likely they will buy, join or click an ad (adsense users). The new Drop Down Criteria Mod helps to accomplish the goal of keeping visitors on your site longer
 
3. Keep members coming back - in most cases members come back to check out new members, contact other members, to update their status (status mod), to read their messages, etc.
 
Ramil's dropdown criteria mod helps me accomplish step #2 above.

This extension was inspired by Paul Berry's feature request at vldForum
 
This little extension allows you to display previous, next blog link with entry titles. Developed using vldP 2.5.3 but should also work for vldP 2.5.5.
 
You have to call it at member_blog_entry.tpl
Put somewhere in it:

Available params:
member_id - id of member
entry_id - id of current blog entry
type - type of link ("previous", "next") if omitted will return current blog title and link)
prefix, postfix - text before and after link

don´t know if this is the right way but i try ;-)
 
First i want to apologize for my maybe not good english but i never had it in school.
 
I saw vldpersonals when i searched in google and i liked it (still does). I found a nulled version (2.5.3) and installed it for testing.
 
After i testet it and think its a great system i bought the original version (2.5.5).
 
Installed the legal version and then i got the first problems. installer didnt work and server errors. After i talked to vlad and my hoster and nobody really couldnt help me ( i guess my hoster doesnt support the recommendet feautures), i tried to mix the legal and not legal version and then it works.
 
Vlad said to me that he doesnt give me support if i use the nulled version and thats ok for me ... but because i also bought the legal version from him and it gave problems i tried to mix both versions and its ok.
 
But ... i need one who programming some things and i will pay for it.
 
The login doesnt work with the administrator account ... with every other account it works perfect.
 
The logout doesnt work for nobody.
 
I need a simple chat (not flash). Not even smilies are neccessary. User do not make different rooms. I make the rooms. Its a public chat and not the IM funktion.
 
Maybe a little speciell design
 
If someone can help me, then i thank you much.

i allway have the prob in v2.5.3 that in i go to a member_blog page
i see that he has 30Blogs and i see Site 1-5 and Next Page Button.
 
I just can click on NEXT PAGE Button..
 
Is there any possibility that i can get the page Nr for clicking that like

After receiving some complaints about the charges and terms for vldArticles, I have consulted with others in whom I place a great deal of respect for an honest assessment and advice.
 
Accordingly, vldArticles is now only USD35.00 - one price, own for life, use as many times as you like on as many sites that you run (but please don't give it away to others, as that just cheapens everyone).
 
To appease those who begrudge the time and effort taken in producing this mod., I have made an introductory offer of USD5.00 for the first 10 customers.

I have fully cloned the standard News module to Articles, including all CP functionality
 
I have prepared a complete package containing all new files and SQL file to create the new table.
Also included is an 11 page PDF file which gives detailed step-by-step instructions, including screen shots, on how to install the new files, edit the existing, run the SQL file, and get the module working.
 
I have done a fresh, clean installation of 2.5.5 commercial and by just following the directions, successfully installed the Articles module.
 
If you can use News, you can use Articles.
