Do you run 2.5.3 but wish you had the Gifts that came with 2.5.5+ ?

Hot off the press:

I've chopped/changed/edited and have come up with a complete integration package of Gifts for v2.5.3

31 page PDF with images and step-by-step instructions
SQL file with all DB instructions (CREATE TABLE, ALTER TABLE, etc)
ZIP file with all new files required (27 files, plus 3 complete templates)
ZIP files with all edited files, as per guide, for easier editing
3 complete templates with Gifts added for plug 'n play integration (webby2, modern, dark-yellowish)

Sorry, but this amount of work does not come free, but will not be too expensive (I think)

Nothing official on my site yet, but you can contact me for more info here.

Discounts may apply to repeat customers.

New SEO Keyword extension (paid)

Search Google for a term like "SEO image optimization", and read and article or two about the importance of the alt tag.

Now go to the front page of your vldPersonals site, view the source, and count how many empty alt tags you have (alt="")

Every one a lost opportunity for a Keyword.

vldKeyword plugs this overlooked and major aspect of vldPersonals by taking a randomly selected keyword, from your database, and placing it into the alt tag.
No more lost alt/keyword opportunities.

I am sure that when Ramil opens his Inbox, and sees another message from me, he must silently groan ....

Nonetheless, Ramil is always helpful, and does everything he can to help, with the most pleasant disposition and manner.

Sorry, I only have $12= left in my MoneyBookers account, but it's on it's way to you, as a token of appreciation.

Cheers,

Tired of the 'NiceEdit' that ships with vldPersonals?

I much prefer TinyMCE, and fortunately, changing from NiceEdit (not so nice I think) to TinyMCE is very easy.

Apart from familiarity, it offers more options and functionality, and functions in a better way than NiceEdit.

Want to give it a try?

First, download the jQuery version of TinyMCE - to make it easier, you can get it from me here

Unpack this archive, into your root/includes directory, so it in installed as follows:
public_html/includes/tiny_mce
There will be further subdirectories under the tiny_mce directory

Now, open the file /includes/templates/header.tpl
Around line 15, find and DELETE the entry
<script type="text/javascript" src="{virtual_path}includes/js/nicedit.js"></script>
That's right, delete it, erase it, cast it into cyber space.

Now, still in /includes/templates/header.tpl paste the following, just about where you deleted the other line.

Text
<script type="text/javascript" src="{virtual_path}includes/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
tinyMCE.init({
        mode : "textareas",
 plugins : "inlinepopups",
 dialog_type : "modal",
        theme : "advanced",
        theme_advanced_buttons1 : "save,newdocument,|,bold,italic,underline,strikethrough,|,justifyleft,justifycenter,justifyright,justifyfull,|,styleselect,formatselect,fontselect,fontsizeselect",
        theme_advanced_buttons2 : "cut,copy,paste,pastetext,pasteword,|,search,replace,|,bullist,numlist,|,outdent,indent,blockquote,|,undo,redo,|,link,unlink,anchor,image,cleanup,help,code,|,insertdate,inserttime,preview,|,forecolor,backcolor",
        theme_advanced_toolbar_location : "top",
        theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "left",
        theme_advanced_statusbar_location : "bottom",
        theme_advanced_resizing : true
});
</script>

You can now save and close /includes/templates/header.tpl

Now, all you need to do is modify two template files:
/includes/templates/pages_edit.tpl
and
/includes/templates/news_edit.tpl

Note, if you have my vldArticles mod, then you would also have to change
/includes/templates/articles_edit.tpl

Towards the bottom of the files you will find an entry such as this:
Text
<script type="text/javascript">
        $(document).ready(function(){
                new nicEditor({
                        iconsPath: '{virtual_path}includes/js/nicicons.gif',
                        buttonList:
                }).panelInstance('field_body');
        });
</script>

Delete this entire selection, close and save your files, and voila, you should now have a much better textarea editor than NiceEdit.

Cheers

BREAKING NEWS...

PRICE SLASH & INTRO SPECIAL for vldArticles

Modification to vldArticles

After receiving some complaints about the charges and terms for vldArticles, I have consulted with others in whom I place a great deal of respect for an honest assessment and advice.

Accordingly, vldArticles is now only USD35.00 - one price, own for life, use as many times as you like on as many sites that you run (but please don't give it away to others, as that just cheapens everyone).

To appease those who begrudge the time and effort taken in producing this mod., I have made an introductory offer of USD5.00 for the first 10 customers.

That's right, just a measly 5 bucks.
Less than a packet of cigarettes, less than a cup of coffee.

There were a couple who courteously asked to be considered should price and terms be modified.
If they make contact with contact me, then the USD5.00 remains true for them, regardless of what number they are in the list.

After that, the price reverts back to USD35.00 - one price, own for life, use as many times as you like.

Can I be any fairer than that? I don't think so.

[ original article continues below ]

I have fully cloned the standard News module to Articles, including all CP functionality

I have prepared a complete package containing all new files and SQL file to create the new table.
Also included is an 11 page PDF file which gives detailed step-by-step instructions, including screen shots, on how to install the new files, edit the existing, run the SQL file, and get the module working.

I have done a fresh, clean installation of 2.5.5 commercial and by just following the directions, successfully installed the Articles module.

If you can use News, you can use Articles.

Front page is vld Front Page

Note:

  • This is done with plain-vanilla webby2 installation, and a simple tag in hompage.tpl
    As with any other template it could be modified to just show headlines without images etc
  • This installation is reset from time to time via cron
  • Some CP functionality has been removed for security reasons

Again, this was made with/for 2.5.5 commercial - I do not have any previous versions, so cannot comment on backward compatibility.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Cheers,
