I'm coming to a difficult point, and I know it won't make me popular. But I really think VLD should think their system over. I'm posting it here, because I know critics on the VLD forum is not really welcome.
I'm hoping to have an open debate.

I was looking into some other systems 8-] oops ;-) from fellow site owners and found out the Ska Dating really has some features we should think about.
 
I'm not really found of the ska dating frontside interface, but I do think they have some nice features.

Now, I'm not promoting Ska date, because VLD is much more flexible if you want to make a special site for your own. And I do know some features are possible to be programmed in the VLD templates. So I wouldn't change.
But I really think they have a much more powerfull admin system and ways to catch and hold on their members.
 
It's only 100$ more then VLD, so I think VLD should consider some ideas (or create a higher level version).

Some idea's came across.
I saw at Ska Dating that they offer a mobile version.
Now, that wouldn't be to hard I guess for VLD?
Just strip down a template and use more icons.
 
Only thing is, does anybody have an idea how to redirect when users surf with mobile phone?

I got ot from several members, bu I assumed it was because they cannot work properly with a pc.
But it seems some cannot register to the site and get an error :-/
I will need to find out what's their problem.

Hi VLD,
I've found a bug in the blocking feature.
 
It seems that when I block profile A:
- I cannot send messages or answer to blogs to this blocked profile (so I blocked myselve)
- Profile A can still see my profile and send messages etc,... (he is not blocked it appears!)
 
So it seems that the blocking function is working reversed!!!
 
Also the viewing of my profile should be not possible. (not only sending messages)
 
How can this be resolved? Because I'm loosing members on this (my members reacted furious)

Everyday I check my stats and every day I'm wondered.
Many people search my website on google, but by the full domain???

Some even search
mijndomein.be
mijndomeins.eu (with S so it seems they really know the name, it not a redirect)
and even:
mijndomein dating
 
(I censored my domain, because I have many competitors checking out my system, so I don't want to reveal my sources)
 
I don't understand how that can be?
If they know my domainname, they can go to it directly, isn't it? (which they do, according to the path I can follow on my stats)
And why if they know my domain, some don't sign up (not all have to sign up, my site is rather for a certain crowd, couples, and free swingers)
 
This is a riddle to me.
 
I have good Google Scores by now, I'm on different startpages, I have good content articles, so they should find me by keywords, not by my domain name.

• could it be that there's a big buzz about my site, and if so, from where does it come and why don't they sign up more?
   
  
• would there be a signup problem (I don't experience a prob, but I got (dumb?) people saying they can't register, which I doubt, also because they don't tell me what their prob is, so I think it's just about bashing my site, there is really allot of competition here...)
  

PS: I have those wonderfull stats from statcounter.com, which I recommend to all! It's not free (500 logs), but you get a very clear sight of your visitors. View Comments & Reply...

I think it would be a great marketing trick to send postcards from your site to email adresses.
