Facebook v.s. Adwords
I use both Facebook and Adwords for my ad campaigns. They both have their advantages and disadvantages but of the two, Facebook is the easiest to learn. You can also do a better job at targeting your audience using Faceook. If you are looking for men only in a certain country between a certain age group that is single, your Facebook ads can be targeted to that audience. Of course the advantage of adwords is that your ads are placed in google search engine giving your site exposure to a huge audience using the net to search for love.
If you are new at ad marketing, I would say start out with Facebook, however, I highly encourage you to learn Adwords as well to versify your ad campaigns.

I think the most important thing with adwords is to make sure you do several ads with very, very, very targeted keywords. Most people do one ad and put a zillion keywords in it and the results are usually poor.
Adwords is harder to learn but here is a basic outline
1. Lets say you want to spend $20 a day
2. You create a campaign
3. Within that campaign you can create several adgroups
4. Each adgroup can have several ads.
I think the adgroup is the most important part since that is where you provide your keywords. So in my mind, I would have several adgroups geared towards very specific keywords. For example for my site I might have an adgroup geared towards "penpals" another adgroup geared towards "marriage" etc.
Also it is important to do testing in adwords. I did a lot of split testing to see which ads worked best.
Adwords, at least to me, is very complex. While facebook I do not have to worry about any of the above. I simply pick my audience (it is kind of like picking search criteria...looking for male, 20-30 years old, etc) and create an ad.
Would love some tricks to using adwords to optimising, so I get more bang for my buck.
Facebook ads does seem a lot more simple, in my limited playing around with it, and I like the targetting features. I plan to only advertise for chicks, as they are the hardest to come by, to start with.
